Ovarian cancer symptoms
Ovarian Cancer.
The ovaries are located either side of the lower abdomen and produce the many eggs with which we can make babies if they are fertilised. Ovarian cancer is a silent killer; often by the time it is detected it has spread to other organs. If it is detected early enough, it can be treated. It is so important not to ignore any differences in your lower body which may suggest ovarian cancer.
Symptoms
· Bloating or fullness in the abdomen.
· Pain or discomfort in the lower back.
· Difficulty passing urine, possibly having to go more often.
· Having loose bowels or more often constipation.
As you can imagine, a lot of women will ignore these since they appear similar to other situations such as PMT, and general bloating women feel at different times in the menstrual cycle. If you are worried, talk to your Doctor. There are currently private firms who use ultra sound testing in some areas of the UK to monitor, or screen for ovarian cancer. It has to be paid for so is not free for everyone. I think it is monstrous that women who cannot afford it will not have the opportunity to be screened, and that many areas do not offer this service. It should be as accessible as cervical screening and it is an issue I will take up.
